INGREDIENTS

  • 1/4-1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350 deg F.
  2. Whisk egg with 1 tbs water.
  3. Roll sheet of puff pastry flat. Cut into 1/3’s. Cut each strip into 2 triangles. 1 sheet = 6 croissants.
  4. Add 1-2 tsp chocolate chips to the long end of the triangle, roll into a croissant.
  5. Brush croissants with egg wash.
  6. Bake for 25 minutes or until tops are golden.

Thoughts
Delicious way to use up extra puff pastry dough and fast to whip together. Make sure to keep puff pastry dough as cold as possible when working with it. I rolled out each sheet separately and kept the other in the fridge. Baking for 25min still left the middle a little squishy. To reheat, microwave for 10 seconds to melt chocolate, then broil for 3-5min until golden. Other fillings would probably also work well: Nutella, jams, etc.
