Cinnamon Rolls

Just out of the oven, ready to be sampled

INGREDIENTS
Dough
2 and ¾ cups all-purpose flour
3 Tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 package instant yeast (1 packet = 2 and ¼ teaspoons)
½ cup water / coffee
¼ cup milk
2 Tablespoons unsalted butter
1 large egg

Filling
¼ cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
2 Tablespoons ground cinnamon
¼ cup brown sugar

Glaze
1 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2-3 Tablespoons milk or coffee

INSTRUCTIONS
Dough
1. In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, salt, and yeast together.
2. In a microwavable bowl, heat water, milk, and butter until butter is melted.
3. In a small bowl, lightly whisk egg.
4. Stir the melted butter mixture into the flour bowl. Stir in the egg. Knead until dough is no longer sticky (3-4min). Place dough in a lightly greased bowl and allow to rest for 5 minutes.
5. Preheat oven to 200 degrees F.

Filling
6. Roll dough into a 15″x9″ rectangle. Spread softened butter filling on top.
7. Tightly roll the dough up.
– 9″ roll. Cut into 9 pieces and place in a lightly greased 9″ pan.
– 15″ roll. Cut into 12 pieces and place in a 9″x13″ pan.

Baking
8. Turn off the oven. Lightly cover the cinnamon buns with Al foil and place in the oven for 20min.
9. After 20min, remove the Al foil. Increase the temperature to 375 degrees F and bake for 15-20min (20min in Corning dish) or until golden.

Glaze
10. Combine sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
11. Remove cinnamon rolls from oven and top with glaze.

Thoughts
This recipe is delicious. It goes well with a glass of cold milk or black coffee.
